Become a Member of the

Richmond Amateur Radio Club (RARC)

The RARC invites all interested amateurs and non-amateurs to join our organization and become an active part of the Richmond amateur radio community.

The club meets formally at 7:30pm on the last Wednesday of the month, between September and May, and informally every Saturday morning between 10:30 and 12:00 at the Landsdowne Mall food court.  The club also has a regular Tuesday evening net at 7:00pm. Both new and seasoned hams are invited to attend our meetings or check into our Tuesday net.

The RARC has a strong community volunteer component and the club takes an active part in the Richmond City Emergency Communications system. The club operates the Richmond City Communications van and is always on standby to offer any assistance requested by the city. Recent major activities by the club include performing communications duties during the 2002 Richmond Tall Ships event, providing communications facilities for Richmond City to assist stranded US airline passengers following the 2001, 9/11 terrorist attacks and sending volunteer club members to assist in the 2003 Okanagan forest fire. Some members also volunteer as radio operators in their local Emergency Social Services (ESS).

Facilities available to the club include:

  • VHF Repeater: VE7RMD: 147.140Mhz, +600Khz, 79.7Hz tone
  • UHF Repeater: VE7RMD: 442.375Mhz, +5Mhz, 203.5 Hztone
  • VE7GOG Radio Station at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Steveston

(Non-amateurs can also operate this radio station while under the guidance and control of a licensed amateur)
