Become a Member of the Richmond Amateur Radio Club (RARC)

The RARC invites all interested amateurs and non-amateurs to join our organization and become an active part of the Richmond amateur radio community.

The club meets formally at 7:15pm on the last Wednesday of the month, between September and May, and informally every Saturday morning between 10:30 and 12:00 at the Landsdowne Mall food court. The club also has a regular Tuesday evening net at 7:00pm. Both new and seasoned hams are invited to attend our meetings or check into our Tuesday net.

RARC is a registered BC Society to promote the interests of Amateur Radio, assist in the provision of communication services in the event of an emergency, and provide radio communications for public service events as requested. RARC is a member of the BC Provincial Emergency Program, supporter of Emergency Programs for the City of Richmond, and an affiliated club with Radio Amateurs of Canada. Programs for the club are partially funded by grants from the City of Richmond and Province of BC, and contributions from the local business community. Recent major activities by the club include performing communications duties during the 2002 Richmond Tall Ships event, providing communications facilities for Richmond City to assist stranded US airline passengers following the 2001, 9/11 terrorist attacks and sending volunteer club members to assist in the 2003 Okanagan forest fire. Some members also volunteer as radio operators in their local Emergency Social Services (ESS).
